Personal Thoughts

"When I was trying to develop my style of painting and drawing, I realised how important it was to create marks on the paper that were my own and that would make the picture recognisable as my work. What exactly makes you recognise a Van Gogh from a Cezanne or a Klee from a Matisse? Their application of the paint is instantly recognisable. Even if you reproduced their images in shades of grey and cut out a small isolated piece of the picture you would still recognise the artist from the marks."
